儿童文学中第一本正面讨论维根主义的非虚构绘本(6-10 岁),用鲜艳插画展现动物的自然行为与工厂化养殖的残酷对比,同时介绍肉食对环境的影响。 The first nonfiction children's book to address veganism, factory farming, and animal emotions (ages 6-10), using vibrant illustrations to contrast animals' natural behaviors with industrial farming conditions.
That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals (North Atlantic Books, 2009) was the first children’s book of its kind. Ruby Roth wrote and illustrated it while teaching art at an elementary school, inspired by her students’ curiosity about veganism. The book shows animals — pigs, turkeys, cows, dolphins — in both their natural states and in factory farm conditions.
